I love images that tell a story: where in a single frame the narrative is clear. A story told well, with great lighting and a suitable grade is what makes me feel as though I’m winning. I get a kick out of the call that says the projects going ahead and all those unknowns need to be figured out. I love raw ideas.
I’m lucky to have great collaborators and clients: art directors, creative directors, the occasional copywriter, makeup artists, stylists, retouchers and ideas people. I’m always on the lookout for new people to collaborate with.
I’m a big fan of continuing to do personal work, even when you’re busy. It’s the lifeblood of keeping your style in permanent evolution. I like to try things unrelated to photography just because it’s good to try new things – I hope to try my hand at short film making sometime soon and I started an app business, Folioworx, in 2011.
