These images were made during a recce to Telegraph Avenue in California. This avenue is one of the connecting roadways between the cities of Berkeley and Oakland, which together with San Francisco and other cities make up the Bay Area. The Bay Area is one of wealthiest regions on the planet, and Berkeley is home to one of the finest universities in the world. Despite the wealth and intellect this area is also home to thousands of homeless people, some of whom live for long periods of time in their cars, vans or small buses, forming the so called 'hidden homeless'. Students make up a proportion of this population and some spend their entire student lives living in their vehicles.
This project will explore the absurdity of this situation.
